2023 SS. Philip & James CYO Scholarship
Scholarships Awarded:
- 1 - $1,000 scholarship – Female student
- 1 - $1,000 scholarship – Male student
Who Is Eligible to Apply:
- Any 8th grade student, no matter where they attend elementary school that is an active SS. Philip & James parishioner, who attends mass regularly and is in good standing with the parish.
- Must be an 8th grade student who plans to attend an Archdiocesan or Private Catholic High School.
- Must have participated in the SS. Philip & James CYO sports program.
- Maintains a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 85% or better in core classes.
Requirements:
- Submit a well-written, grammatically correct essay in response to the statement found on the application. The essay must be typed, double-spaced, at least three paragraphs in length and submitted electronically in a pdf to cyo@sspjparish.net.
- Two Letters of Recommendation (choices can include teachers, coaches, scout leaders, community activity leaders and/or church leaders). The recommendation letters should be sent to cyo@sspjparish.net by the person completing the recommendation before the due date.
- Submit a copy of your final 7th grade report card and your 8th grade 2nd trimester report card electronically in a pdf or jpg format.
Selection Committee Members/Process:
The Selection Committee will be comprised of the SS. Philip & James Pastor, School Principal, Director of Religious Education and Athletic Director. All applications received by the due date will be reviewed and the winners determined by the committee.
Timeline:
- Scholarship announced on May 1, 2023 via email to the CYO, PREP and School families and posted on the SSPJ CYO website, Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Scholarship applications due May 19, 2023.
- Winners will be announced at the SS. Philip & James Parish School Graduation, communicated to the Parish community in the Parish Bulletin and by email to all CYO, PREP and School families after the SSPJ School Graduation.
- Scholarship funds will be distributed directly to the recipient’s chosen school upon enrollment confirmation.
